Welcome to wine country

The vineyards of the Herault are your destination. The humble Herault boasts 19 AOC (appellation d’origine contrôlée) certified wine terroirs, as well as 8 IGP (indication géographique protégée) terroirs.  Not to mention the countless other innovative yet non-conformist producers and community ‘cave co-operatives’.

Altogether spread over 100 000 hectares of vineyards, the Herault is the second largest wine producing department in France.  Here at Country Kids we’re right in the middle of it all.  You’ll even find 6 winemakers in the small village of Octon, at the bottom of the hill! Thirsty yet ?

Here at Country Kids, we offer you the chance to sample some old favorites and discover hidden gems in many different ways while you’re here with us.

Firstly, there is of course our very own wine cellar, ‘La Cave’, which is stocked with delights from all over the department, as well as one or two from other parts of the Languedoc.  Our knowledgeable team is always on hand to give you some tips to help you choose the right bottle for the right moment.

We can arrange off site tastings with some of our favorite producers at their tasting rooms.  We work closely with a select few who we believe not only produce some of the region’s best wine, but are also friendly, English speaking and knowledgeable.

If you choose to stay with us during our ‘Absolutely Everything Included’ packagewe host a weekly tasting evening showcasing our favourite locally sourced products. From fresh oysters with a crispy white to a hand-picked charcuterie selection just from the bottom of the hill. Not mentioning the delicious cheeses from the Larzac area.

But sometimes, the best way to discover that perfect bottle is by yourselves, at one of recommended local restaurants. Sip away at a crisp ‘Picpoul de Pinet’while slurping a ‘Bouzigues Oyster’ at the ‘Etang du Thau’ or quaff a bottle of Cherry rich ‘Terraces du Larzac’ somewhere in the Cevennes whilst watching the sun go down.

The choice is yours…It’s all here waiting for you !
