What time can we arrive ?
Our check in time is 4 pm, but if you arrive before in the afternoon you will be able to roam in the garden and make the best use of the pool. We recognize that it is probably easier for you to come straight to Country Kids and let the kids play here than to look for somewhere to hang about after a long journey.
Before you arrive, we will ask what time you expect to arrive so that we can do our best to have your accommodation ready for you whatever time you arrive. (departing guests permitting).
Also, as we do not offer lunch service on Saturday, we suggest you to have lunch before arriving at Country Kids. In the village of Octon (10 min drive from Country Kids) there are some nice restaurants.
How do most families get to Country Kids ?
Most families with toddlers and babies find traveling to Country Kids straightforward and convenient. You can fly into the nearest airports—Béziers (BZR) or Montpellier (MPL)— Both are well-served by several low-cost airlines, making it affordable and convenient for families traveling with children. For those who prefer to drive, Country Kids is about 10 hours from Calais. The drive can be comfortably split with a stopover in Orleans or else, which is a great way to break up the journey and give toddlers and babies a chance to stretch their legs and rest.
Alternatively, families can travel by train to Montpellier, with two main stations to choose from: Montpellier Saint Roch (in the city center) or Montpellier Sud de France (with direct access to the A9 motorway). Trains are a great option for families as they allow you to relax and move around, making the journey more pleasant for children.
If you’re coming from London, we will recommend you to change at Lille, it will be easier than in Paris, as Lille only requires a simple platform change, while Paris involves navigating multiple stations.
Do we need to hire / have a car with us ?
Absolutely, yes. We are in the countryside. You cannot get about without a car. To visit local markets and attend off-site activities, including day trips to the beach and your romantic dinners on babysitting nights, you will need a car. We recommend you hire with any company that is NOT linked to your airline as often that company will be the one with the longest queue. Taxis can be arranged, but they are expensive.
What clothes washing facilities do you have ?
All apartments have a washing machine as well as iron and ironing board. We always provide a free clothes drying service if the sun isn’t doing its job.
During the Summer season a weekly washing and ironing is included and this is available as an option at other times.
How far is the nearest village ?
The very closest village to us is Brenas and it is tiny, perfect for a stroll but not a shop in sight so you can go without your wallet!
Octon is a 10 minutes drive and there you will find a small village grocer, a post office, two cafés and restaurant.
20 minutes drive are the larger towns of Bedarieux and Lodeve where you will find shops, supermarkets and restaurants.
Clermont L’Herault is 25 minutes drive and has one of the largest weekly markets in the area.
