Travelling with Kids in the South of France for Family Holidays

How to Plan the Perfect Tailor-Made Family Trip

Travelling with kids in France? Are you mad? I mean, it’s hard enough to get them prepared and behaved for a trip to the local supermarket for the weekly shop, isn’t it?

France is a wonderful country for families to visit. During family holidays in the south of France, you benefit from eye-popping countryside, fantastic beaches, stunning hills and mountains, historic towns and villages, and some of the best weather in Europe. All this, before we even get to mention the local cuisine and fabulous wines for the adults, and, of course, the amazing French hospitality.

With the right approach, travelling with kids to holiday in France can be a treat. And way, way more fun than shopping.

Here’s how.

Plan Your Destination and Your Time Away

This is the most important step. Think about how old your kids are, what they enjoy doing, and what you want them to get from the holiday.

A great tip here is to keep things varied. That’s what we do at Country Kids. We have a huge variety of kid-focused activities, including a petting farm, heated swimming pool, kids’ club, and more.

In our family-friendly, safe and secure grounds, you’ll find a treehouse, playhouse, swings and slide, a sandpit, trampoline, boule court, mini football pitch, and acres of countryside to explore. And we don’t stop there. Our activities include swimming and tennis lessons.

And off-site, you’ll have the opportunity to take your kids pony riding, hiking, fishing, or to enjoy tree-top adventures or mountain biking, among other activities: a real outdoor and active getaway for the whole family.

You can tailor-make your entire stay with us. Your kids will love it. Best of all, we’ll take away all the aggravation of planning your holiday. One of the first things we do when you arrive (after you have settled in, of course) is to discover all you want to do, and then we’ll do the rest, including booking any off-site activities you wish to do. After all, it’s your holiday too, isn’t it?

Prepare Your Kids for Their Holiday

Whether you plan to drive from the UK to France or a fly drive holiday, get your kids excited about their holiday and their holiday destination. Show them websites, talk about the activities they could take part in, and about the surrounding area. Teach them a few key French phrases.

Talk to them about learning to swim, looking after the animals, riding a pony, and making new friends. Gauge what most excites them too, so that you understand how you will be able to make this the holiday of a lifetime for them.

Prepare Snacks for the Journey, and Then Each Day

You never know if your journey might be delayed. But you do know that your kids are going to get hungry. So, prepare some nutritious snacks for the journey. You’ll also need to consider what snacks are needed for when you are at your destination – unless you stay with us at Country Kids. Between those activities we ‘squeeze in’ kids’ meals and snacks. And if you plan a day away from our country resort, we’ll be happy to prepare your lunch and snacks to take with you.

Plan Your Packing – Keep It Light

We know that when you are travelling with kids it’s tempting to take everything, including the kitchen sink, with you. Avoid the temptation!

Bring the essentials with you. Consider the weather, the types of activities you’ll be doing, and the kids’ equipment you need to bring with you. Leave it at that! Really, you don’t need to bring anything more. And if there is something you have forgotten – hey, we specialize in family holidays, we’ve got you covered!

Plan for Yourself, Too

This is a family holiday, and while it’s all about the kids, it shouldn’t be, should it? Parents need a break too. You need time to relax and reconnect, while your children are off playing, making friends, and learning new skills.

How about time to chill out by the pool?

Or an evening at a restaurant, just the two of you, eating top-class cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere?

Or maybe a visit to a local vineyard?

At Country Kids, we make it all about parents, too. We have a drop-in creche as well as our kids’ club to keep your little ones amused in a safe environment. Two evenings during your stay, we’ll provide a babysitter so that you can go and do your own thing.

We take care of all the cooking, cleaning, and housekeeping. All the planning and preparation. Your kids will have a tremendous time, and so will you – watch the video for a little taste.

There’s No Better Time to Book with Country Kids

Let’s be honest, the pandemic has been a nightmare. Hopefully, the worst is now behind us. France is opening up again. But we know you want peace of mind. Which is why you can postpone your holiday to Country Kids whenever you wish if travel restrictions apply to you.

We’re now open for booking for 2022 and 2023. Book now to avoid disappointment, safe in the knowledge that you can postpone if Covid forces you to.
