We love our little corner of Southern France. It’s called the Hérault and it is made for family holidays with young children. It is known for its rustic old stone buildings, lively markets, Mediterranean beaches and of course, it’s wine.
When most people think of The South of France, the glitzy town of Cannes, overcrowded beachfronts of Nice or the pricey shops and restaurants of Provence often spring to mind. The Hérault is nothing like those places. It’s a real hidden gem and is rich in its history traditions and culture. It has a thriving tourist trade, but mainly with the French. While you stay with us, we’ll show you how to enjoy the Hérault like a local and our flexible childcare will allow you to really experience it!
Each year, we offer our guests the opportunity to avoid the stresses of large hotel chains and mass tourism resorts. Country Kids resort welcomes exclusively seven families per week. The resort is set over 30 acres of safe and secure grounds, giving kids the freedom to immerse themselves in nature and explore freely while parents have peace of mind whilst they do so. Our little ‘village de vacances’ has fully loaded family ready apartments, allowing you to get back to basics and reconnect as a family on a perfect stress-free holiday.

While we have everything on site needed for an unforgettable family holiday, we will arrange and manage all bookings of off-site activities and restaurants for those wishing to experience southern France like a local. We will also help you and you’re your family escape the crowds and discover those real lesser known local delights.
While we are tucked away, deep in the French countryside, we are only a stone’s throw from a range of wonderful and wholesome activities. The Salagou Valley is our local adventure playground with its huge lake ‘Le Salagou’ being the main attraction. The unusual red soil and extinct volcanic hills make it one of the most striking places in France. It is however, not very well known, even by locals from nearby Montpellier.
The lake offers all kinds of watersports including our guests favorite, the e-boats; electric boats that are perfect for a family adventure out on the water. We can also give you maps to the best hiking trails and we have bikes on site for you to enjoy the adventurous mountain paths…and of course we know all the best spots to picnic.
Situated around the lake are a few Little villages with restaurants for all occasions and local artisans practicing their trades. Our nearest, Octon has a night market as well as three restaurants dotted around the central village fountain; our in-apartment babysitters let you spend the evening enjoying the ambiance without the kids in tow. A little further and you will find the village Mourèze and its thousands of mysterious rock formations that both kids and adults love to explore.
All around you and the area in general, you will see vineyards. Our little corner of the Med is the second largest wine producer in France. For those visiting oenophiles, we have relationships with winemakers all over the Hérault, and can arrange visits to their chai’s. For those not wishing to stray too far however our on-site wine cellar, ‘La Cave’ is stocked with a whole range local treats. During our Absolutely Everything Included period we host an evening at our bar, showcasing the best of local producers. ‘Les Saveurs du Sud’ is an opportunity to have the region on a plate and in your glass, including Bouzigues Oysters, fresh from the Mediterranean Sea that day!
